#sledgestrong Friday 💪🏻

Almost three years ago, “Good News Fridays” were replaced by the good news of what God was doing with Sledge each week in the hospital. Rescuing Him. Redefining the scary uncertainty to Heavenly possibility. Restoring his strength. Removing medical obstacles + refreshing his strength day by day.
Honestly, I never had any intentions of sharing so much of our journey but it just kinda happened…it was like this army of warriors had gathered alongside us, lifted us up above the rushing waters, + we all got to see the Father work miracle after miracle.

So today—good news Fridays is back to a #sledgestrong Friday💪🏻
Sledge got his custom SPIO vest (stabilizing pressure input orthodis vest)—he acted as if he had been waiting for this moment all month!!!
His first experience with this was @kinactive_kids in April and you could see how much his body immediately respond. Whereas you + I don’t have to think about, “where is my body at in space?” because we have body + spatial awareness, Sledge is still working on developing that. His joints have gotten stronger so he doesn’t “noodle out” as we call it as much, but he needs help anchoring his body so his brain can focus on the task at hand.

Once he got all suited up, I placed him standing up and he wouldn’t stop trying to run 😂😅 it’s like he was looking at me and saying, “Mom! Woah! Look at this! This thing will help me with all my new tricks!!!”

You know, I guess my life will be a long series of learning the hand of God in these incredibly particular + profound ways because of his journey. What sometimes feels like an “extra thing that I wish he didn’t need” becomes a unique way that we get to see the Father’s kindness.

Watching his muscles respond, it made me think of you + me. Our custom armor sometimes requires a little extra fortification in certain seasons…a little more stability, more nearness, a little more support so that we can use our energy for the assignment God has given us.
And guess what? That is an absolute blessing. A miracle.
Maybe instead of seeing additional help as weakness or inability, we get excited about what God’s provision will now allow us to do!
