I was reading in Joshua this morning…about how Moses’ mantle was passed onto Joshua so that he could lead the Israelites into the promised land.
Once again, the Lord asked Joshua and his men to move forward into the land and once their feet touched the water, He would make it stand up like a wall so the people could pass through, just like He did with Moses and the Red Sea.
We read Scripture thinking these things are just “the way it was always going to go”—but Joshua had a choice.
He knew there would be moments to be afraid—or else His loving father wouldn’t have given him that reminder over and over again. But he couldn’t doubt what he had been told—Joshua, GOD HAS GIVEN YOU THIS LAND.
Enter it.
Receive His grace.
Trust His provision.
Encounter opposition and remember that those who are for you are far more than those who are against you.
Proclaim it.
Lead others to it.
I love that scripture says, “it was harvest season and the Jordan was overflowing its banks…” aka, from what we can SEE, this looks like the opposite of drying up.
From what is noticeable on the outside, this isn’t the time!
From what can be proven or seems possible, we should draw back and wait until another “season.”
But how many seasons have you waited claiming that His provision is meant for another time and He is saying NOW!
For as soon as their feet touched the water—as soon as the commitment to faith had been made known—the bed of the rivers called forth + the water became walls under God’s command.
I feel this deep in my bones that so many of us are being called to enter the place God has ALREADY told us, “THIS IS YOUR LAND. OCCUPY IT.”
In our workplaces,
In our marriages,
As we claim healing,
Regarding decisions with what’s next,
In our own hearts about what we BELIEVE about God and ourselves and others,
All of it.
It is one thing to truly not know if He has spoken and seek clarity.
It is another to know He has called us to what is true, helpful, and holy but it feels HARD and requires His HELP, and to not go forth.
Will we occupy the land He has already promised us and walk in His provision? Or will we stand outside of it?
It matters greatly.
