You are a person of resiliency

Her tears were falling. Hard. The weight felt so heavy and as I heard her voice her grief, my mouth felt stuck…like how do I respond, fully aware that words were going to fall short.
As she finished her sentence, “I just want it to be over quick,” I could hear Him in my spirit, “Don’t pray it away. Pray she pursues me through it.”
The moral platitudes were sure to fall short anyway, but now I really didn’t know where to land or how to begin to say, “It will not feel short but in the timeline of life, it will be.”
Because when it FEELS LONG, it feels long! End of story.
But also—as always with God, there is the truth of eternity: THIS IS THE GOOD PART!!!

Through it.
In it.
No shortcuts or ways around it. No escapes—not because the goodness is up there somewhere, but because the goodness is HERE, too.

Companionship, at its core, is fellowship. It is the back and forth, continual communication and existing together with another that offers a sense of belonging, ease, and strength.
The fuel to pure + strong companionship? Valleys. Or just the in-between of waiting and waiting some more. Or the mountaintops (or what the world would deem so) in which you suddenly realize, “wait..this doesn’t offer the satisfaction I was hoping for.”—in fact, it might be there that your soul most needs it because you feel soul despair, and that is harder when holding what you prayed for than when waiting for what has yet to occur.

All to say—how else would the Great Shepherd remind you that YOU are a person of resiliency, endurance, + strength if you weren’t required to build it, exercise it, + nourish it?
When the sweat is on your brow, the tears fall from your eyes, or the mud seems to keep your feet stuck, the Holy Spirit roars from deep within you + reminds you of who He is.

I know you don’t feel it. That’s not actually a requirement to having it. Just knowing Him, remaining in Him when you want to run instead.

This is true for the really hard moments and the ones that come when you simply feel like you don’t have it. The energy, the tenacity, the wisdom, the hope…whatever it is.
You do.
Because the Holy Spirit lives inside of you.
THROUGH IT.
